About Toronto International College (TIC)
Toronto International College (TIC) was established in 2003 to meet the needs of students in Canada and around the world. We are dedicated to helping students who seek individualized attention and/or those who wish to prepare intensively for admission to renowned Canadian universities and colleges.
TIC is a unique preparatory school suitable for students who wish to complete their secondary education, improve their English language skills, and/or prepare academically, culturally, and linguistically for university or college. We specifically provide relevant courses from the Ontario Ministry of Education in an intensive and structured learning environment for international students. Our students are well-prepared to apply and successfully transition to higher education institutions in Canada.
Qualification
Welcome to the new big family of TIC! We are a private secondary school under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Ministry of Education. Our experienced professional team uses advanced technology, differentiated teaching, and inquiry-based learning methods to accommodate different learning styles of our students.
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
Our students are able to complete academic courses related to secondary school (grades 9, 10, 11, 12) in a student-centered, innovatively designed learning environment. In these academic courses, TIC focuses on supporting and meeting the individual needs of each student. Students who complete the grade 12 curriculum and meet all necessary requirements (including English proficiency) will receive the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
English as a Second Language (ESL) Courses
Our comprehensive ESL courses are designed to help international students quickly develop their English language skills and prepare for their academic achievements. Students who successfully complete our ESL courses have met the English entry requirements for public universities with which we partner.
Academic Assessment
Student academic assessment is based on continuous evaluations of coursework, such as essays, projects, tests, and assignments, accounting for 70% of the overall course grade. The final exam at the end of each course accounts for 30% of the overall course grade.
Graduation Requirements
The Ontario Ministry of Education’s curriculum is globally ranked fourth. The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) requires the completion of 30 course credits, the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) or the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC), and 40 hours of community service.
